Finally got TeeJet nozzles working on the EGO 4-gallon backpack sprayer — here's what actually worked
Spent a full 24 hours (in and out) trying to figure this out, so hopefully this saves someone some time.
The problem: The EGO wand has a proprietary tip that doesn't accept standard TeeJet nozzles, and getting it off is a pain.
What didn't work:
Penetrating oil (I tried it from Home Depot)
Regular WD-40 (not the silicone kind — they said that would work too, but nope)
Standard pliers — just marred up the wand
What finally worked:
7-inch curved channel-lock pliers (some of y'all might call them something else — don't roast me). The key is getting the pressure just right before turning. I thought the tip was fused on there, but it's not — no lock, no Teflon, nothing. Once I got the grip dialed in, it turned smoothly.
The mod:
Remove the proprietary tip with the channel pliers
Buy a Flow Zone 7-inch extension wand — take the quick connect coupler off of it
Thread that coupler onto the EGO wand where the tip was — use Teflon tape to seal it up
Attach your TeeJet nozzle via the Flow Zone quick connect
I swapped out the cheaper red TeeJet that came with it for a standard flat-fan TeeJet nozzle
Works great. Hope this helps someone!
