In the CL we're consistency machines but not winners unfortunately

Looking at our CL record we've won it 6 times which is pretty good but the overall picture still is that we always tend to get to the latter stages like quarters and semis and then tend to lose more often than not.

We've reached 22 freaking semi finals, yet ended up winning one less CL title than Milan which reached only 14 semi finals. Liverpool has reached 12 semi finals, yet won the same number of CL titles like we have. It always feels like we have to be well above the opponents to really end up winning it in the end whereas other elite teams have more clutch wins.

I don't know why that is but it's annoying because I feel we've underachieved a lot in the CL and should have won around 8-9 titles by now.

We still haven't found the right balance between attack and defense and just concede too many goals, easy goals in particular. Even when you look at the Bundesliga we've conceded 35 in 32 games. Of course you can say that the meaningless matches against Mainz and Heidenheim added to that but even then we conceded too many. In the Bundesliga we're still capable of turning it around but in the CL it will cost you. It almost cost us against Real Madrid as well.

What I'd like to see is the switch from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3. We need a high quality CM. A player of the calibre of Vitinha who plays alongside Pavlovic and Kimmich which is exactly what we need to get a superior control over the game and don't concede too many goals. And I don't believe btw that we'd lose any of our goal scoring ability.

Just think of current PSG or the 2015 Barcelona under Enrique. You have the 3 superskilled players at the front but behind that you have a lot of control. And this is what we need. Musiala is obviously the player who would suffer from this but I do believe this would increase our chances for the CL. I would also get a new RB. This is how it would look like.

Given his ability and that he's still been reaching finals since then and is a Top5 player too this is an extraordinary stat. He was 35, 2 weeks shy of 36 when he last won a Triple Crown title. which was his 4th World title. And now he is 50, only 2 weeks shy of 51.

You've got to say, as good as he is this is really an argument against him when you compare him to the very best players. Ronnie O'Sullivan and Stephen Hendry are obviously comfortably ahead. And even Mark Selby has surpassed him recently by winning his 10th Triple Crown title. John is still on 9.

John really should have done better here.
