Vigil remembers life of Telonn Horton who died in Kalamazoo park shooting
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — After a shooting at Davis Street Park Friday afternoon, friends and family of the 29-year-old man who died held a vigil to remember his life.
They say Telonn Horton was a caring and loving man who loved to skate.
Around 100 people gathered at the park, saying what happened there Friday is difficult to process.
The vigil followed an announcement from Kalamazoo's Department of Public Safety (KDPS) that a person of interest is in custody.
They lit candles and planted flowers before a short ceremony.
Some wore purple, Horton's favorite color.
Gathering around a picnic table, they said a prayer and passed out cans of spray string to let off in his honor.
His friends recalled that he was always smiling and they never expected a tragedy like this to happen.
KDPS is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
The person who was arrested is expected to be criminally charged on Monday.
