Small 4xish game.
I have always dismissed all the 4x space games because they are too big, too long, too complex, and usually not for solo.
But lately I have come across some shorter simpler games, like age of galaxy second edition, which I could find some Info about, but has mixed opinions. I also found about x-odus, which looks like a roguelike or dungeon crawler in space, looks cool, but I think is too much centered on combat and luck, and lastly Revive, which is not in space but is considered 3x adjacent.and looks like the exploration and tech tree is interesting.
And I have also considered Andromeda's edge since I can find a copy for 60€ and maybe Fractal, but they both look like a bit too much. Big games don't hit the table that much, even for solo plays.
I have also played beyond the sun in BGA and I love it, but the game is expensive and needs an expansion to play solo?
So, my final questions are, have you played any of those, do you recommend them? Can you think about any other recommendations?
I would like modular or randomised map for exploration, expansion and discovery, variable upgrades or techtrees, if possible not the same limited choice every game. Some exterminate is fine but not a priority.
Edit: can be fantasy, space, post apocalyptic or any other theme
