WiiM Pro Plus connected via RCA to Yamaha RX-V4A – No subwoofer output (3.1 setup)
Hi everyone, I’ve just integrated a WiiM Pro Plus into my setup, but I’m running into an issue with my subwoofer. I'm not an expert.
My Setup:
- Source: Tidal
- Streamer: WiiM Pro Plus connected via RCA (Line Out) to my Yamaha RX-V4A (Audio 1 input).
- Speakers: Q Acoustics 3030i (fronts) and a Q Acoustics 3090Ci (center) – running a 3.1 system.
- Subwoofer: SVS (connected to the Yamaha's Sub Out).
- Goal: I want to use the WiiM’s internal AKM DAC instead of the Yamaha’s DAC.
The Problem: When I play music, the SVS subwoofer is completely silent. I’ve been using the Pure Direct mode on the Yamaha to ensure the cleanest signal path from the WiiM's DAC, but the sub doesn't kick in at all. I understand that Pure Direct usually bypasses the crossover, but even in other modes, I'm struggling to get a consistent 2.1 or 3.1 output from the analog source. Also, I’m concerned that any mode other than Pure Direct will re-digitize the signal, defeating the purpose of using the WiiM’s dedicated DAC. I confirm the sub works with other sources, connected as well to the receiver.
Questions: 1)With Q Acoustics 3030i and an SVS sub, is it possible to keep the subwoofer active while using the RCA inputs without the Yamaha re-digitizing everything?
2)Does the RX-V4A always digitize analog inputs for bass management?
3)Given the quality of the SVS sub, should I prioritize the 2.1/3.1 alignment over the WiiM's DAC and just switch to an Optical/Coaxial connection?
I’d appreciate any objective advice on how to get the best out of this specific combination. Thanks!
EDIT: In the AVR the "LARGE" speakers settings was selected. Now with "SMALL" the problem is solved. Thanks everyone. Also deleting "PURE DIRECT" helped.
