A bit of a tidy up in the CL660

I was fitting a new GPU 12V 2x6 cable, so I thought I’d see if I could tidy up the cable management a bit. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

For anyone that is curious. The extra fan that is mounted above the PSU on magnetic feet drops GPU temps by as much as 5’c during a benchmark run.

Made a few changes

I was tidying up my cable management last night while fitting a new 12V 2x6 cable for the GPU. Unfortunately my cable ties weren’t long enough I had to pay the local hardware store a visit this morning before I could finish up.

I moved the routing of the two 8pin cables to the left hand side and the supplementary Pcie power cable up and over the 24pin. I’m quite happy with how it turned out. I think it looks a bit cleaner, especially around the PSU. There are a few places I would like to be cleaner but I think I’m being hyper critical of my own work.

You have to use up the slack in this case because the PSU is mounted sideways so there is nowhere to hide any excess cables.

The last photo is of the previous cable management when I first built in the case.

Need some larger cable ties.

I was installing one of those 12V 2x6 cables form Corsair that has a temp sensor and I decided to tidy up my cable management while I was at it.

As well as the two 8pin connectors at the top, my motherboard has a supplementary PCIe power connector at the bottom. I made the last minute decision to run the supplementary power cable up and over my 24pin cable.

I think it will look ok once it’s finished, but unfortunately my 2.5mm cable ties are too small and I only had three larger ones so It’s temporarily secured until I get some more tomorrow.

What do you think?

Will update once it’s all finished.
