Sometimes we have to create our own productivity

I love the idea of productivity apps but I really never stuck with them. Love to watch videos about productivity, but always felt like a consumer.

Currently, I am in my AppDev stage of life, and I got the unique /s idea to create a productivity app.

Simple reminders for things, I wanted to feel engaged, get some positivity, etc. Then I watched a video about the importance of mascots, so I added a bear.

Then I spent a week asking "Why" and blew up the scope of this project, and now I have a Visual-novel style productivity and positivity app featuring a bear.

My wife and I use it every day, since we created it, and has been a great impact to my day-to-day with basic reminders for dry eyes, posture, and a bit of positivity.

Maybe, sometimes, we just have to make stuff that's designed for ourselves?

she was supposed to be a mascot. she had other plans.

So I decided to work on apps and I had more projects than I can count. All picked up, dropped, failed, couldn't move forward. I promised myself to keep it simple.

I'm in my 30s and I started noticing I missed the way friends used to just... check in. No reason. Just "hey, how are you doing." So I wanted to build something simple. A reminder app. Dry eyes, bad posture, maybe some positive affirmations. Tons out there already, but let's try anyway.

To stand out I added a mascot. A bear. Who doesn't like bears? That bear took over completely. The whole app became her — her life, her apartment, her personality, her insights.

She remembers what you told her yesterday. She shares small things about her own day. She ends conversations first because she has her own life.

This is the first app I've ever shipped. Honestly, she published herself.

Meet your new neighbor. Her name is Mochi.

She's live on iOS today 🐻
