need an opinion and advice

so i just started working out again after years of stopping. really i just wanna lose some weight and gain some strength . i was thinking of doing resistance bands in the morning for 30 min before walking into work and then 1 hour cardio when i get home from work. i start working at 6am and normally get out at 2:30 and start working out by 4:30pm. any opinions on this ? is it effective?
