One of the questions TR poses is how we can take something we may not initially enjoy, but find a way to do it and enjoy the process. I am curious how to apply that to this scenario:
- My fiance loves shopping at Costco. Her reasons:
- They have specialty items we can only find there - often in bulk.
- She loves finding "new" or seasonal items to throw into the cart
- She used to go shopping with her family as a kid so it has some nostalgia. (I used to go with my dad, but never really loved it.)
- I prefer to shop at the local budget grocery store. My reasoning:
- The checkout bill feels manageable - we never leave Costco without the bill being under $200.
- We can buy things in smaller but (what feels like) more manageable amounts.
- Variety feels easier - we can buy different items and are not stuck with lots of one single thing or dish.
- I know the grocery store well and can make a shopping list easily.
- I don't feel as tired when I leave - those warehouses are massive
- Costco is a further drive out (20/30mins vs. 10 mins)
Additional context: I am the main breadwinner, often cook, and prefer creating a lists when shopping.
Since we will never stop going, I am curious on y'all's thoughts in applying TR's concept. What options do we have?
