Can astrophotography be too automated?

Clickbait title because clearly everybody here really enjoys their DL.

I saw my friend's DL3 in action for the first time this weekend and was amazed at what it produced. I'm seriously considering a purchase right now but am wondering if it can take the fun out of astrophotography by automating the process so much. He had stunning images and barely lifted a finger and I thought "with so little involvement, you could just download an image of that nebula".

I'm obviously wrong, because so many people here love them, but I'm interested in your reasoning for why I'm wrong.

Perhaps a full astrophotography setup is too expensive or time consuming, and this makes it accessible.

Perhaps you don't have the time to spend on processing images.

Perhaps you still do it manually with the raw images and therefore it's not automated.

I'm really interested in what makes you love this, and why you do this rather than go all in on big kit.

I made this recipe recently and although the flavor profile was absolutely magnificent I found that the beef was very tough. I know there are many variables such as the size of the dice, time spent simmering and the time spent in the oven and I do not wish to make it multiple times and risk getting it wrong until I find the right balance.

This time I'm planning on cooking the chuck beef to fall apart tender separately in the pressure cooker while I do the base following the standard recipe.

Can anybody guide me on how to best achieve this and to still incorporate the flavor of the base stew into the beef? I think I need to prepare the base, reserve half, and add the other half to the pressure cooker with the beef. I rarely deviate from a recipe so any guidance would be appreciated.
