Trope's that need a PERMADEATH
I will not name names in this post. I understand tropes are tropes for a reason. But when you have a series that is over 10 books and every book ends the big battle, and everything is going great. Then the rug pull and the big baddie gets the upper hand, but at the last gasp of breathe the MC has a breakthrough and comes up with a crazy response to win. If every book ends like this, there is no suspense, it feels more like ticking off a checklist to complete a task to finish the story. Another one i hate is the immediate pay off. The MC learns a skill, or decides on a whim to go to a guild and become a member. Then the very next adventure being a member of the guild directly saves their life. Why not give a few chapters, are they worried we will forget immediately? There are many more, but the 3 act final battle and decisions immediately paying feel like the most common, that i end up giving the eye roll
Now remember, i didn't name names, so i was not talking about your favorite S rank book or series. Your book is the best, and it validates everything else you like
