Desert goby skinny and not eating
Hi, I’ve had my goby for a few months and really, he is my absolute favourite fish. The tank has been fully cycled since about October of last year and everyone has been thriving with exception to a loss of a few guppies and tetras.
I was away for a month and someone was watching our fish and cats - when I return everyone is doing great with exception to my goby who now seems to be refusing food and quite skinny. (His belly is concave inwards) His coloration seems to be bright still and normal. Otherwise he seems to be acting normal- lazy, possible slightly more than usual. But despite me putting food in front of his face he seems to be ignoring it.
I have just moved him to this “hospital tank” really it’s a plastic container because that’s all I have. I tried to make it as comfy as possible for him tho And YES I KNOW ITS FILLED WITH FOOD. (I will swap out the water with the main tank water later and make sure it’s clean of course after he had a chance to eat leisurely!) he finally ate one blood worm but I’m still concerned he is ignoring food when he used to chomp it all like a crazy lizard.
My question is- is this simply stress from being possibly outcompeted while I was away and not target feeding? Or does he have parasites? Should I continue to isolate him until he eats better again (if he can manage to 🤞) should I put some medication in his water? Is this because I haven’t been able to find him a girlfriend yet? Is he depressed? Are my parameters somehow wrong for him? Am I just paranoid??
