I had a tympanoplasty and my eardrum was closed up because I had a ventilation tube. For one thing, I’m constantly worried that I have a hole in my eardrum again and fluid is leaking out (I even feel it sometimes even though there’s nothing there). A few times a day, I don’t have any direct pain, but for a few seconds I’m more aware of my ear and there’s a brief, unpleasant twinge of pain. I don’t know how to explain it clearly. Also, several times a day, especially when I lie down or stand up, I hear a crackling or other noises in my ear. sometimes I feel a throbbing.
This wasn’t my first surgery (though it was my first ear surgery), so I know healing takes a long time, but I’m still afraid that something is wrong or fluid is gatering behind my eardrum again. Does/Did anyone else experience this?
