Context:

I replaced the screen with a JK OLED panel, and a new "Foxconn" battery (previous one was bloated up).

I did extract the proximity sensor from the old OEM screen, and it does look to be visually intact, but according to other reports it seems like the code in my panic log means it's the culprit. Thankfully it appears that FaceID is housed on the camera thingy, and not this flex though.

Is there a way to bypass it, or do I need to purchase that module to stop the phone from pink screening and rebooting every 3 minutes?

[Question] 14 Pro Max pink screen and reboot every 3 minutes.

I recently replaced the screen of my 14 Pro Max with a aftermarket JK OLED display, and since then, it keeps freezing, pink screening, and rebooting every 3 minutes.

I have done some research, and according to this part of the log

("panicString" : "panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffff04e5c4fc8): SMC PANIC - ASSERT: target\/d74\/target.cpp:321: 0, SMC BSC failure, TAOC ----\nspreadsheet ver(*10) 150\nS.sensor array 0 - 5 is 0, 524288, 0, 0, 0\nF.sensor array 0 - 1 is 0\n\n - Misc(2) OUTBOX1 not ready")

It appears that it could be the proximity sensor.

However, I'm not quite sure, if it is, and replacing it means no more FaceID.

Is that the issue?

Are LTPS LCD replacements for OLED iPhones safe for the board?

I recently bought a JK LCD replacement for my 14 Pro Max. It's a 60Hz LTPS IPS panel with lower res than the OEM panel.

I don't charge while using the phone, and use a 20W charger.

Assuming I cap the brightness at like 90%, is it safe for the logic board or is it still risky?

[Question] Are JK LCD displays any good?

I got a free 14 Pro Max with a broken screen from my neighbor. I really wanted to use it, but OLED replacements were very expensive. I found a JK LCD and bought it, since it wasn't suspiciously cheap like other LCDs but also not expensive like OLED.

According to Gemini it should be a 60Hz LTPS LCD with a slightly lower resolution but still good DPI. I just don't know if colour or viewing angles are any good though, as it hasn't arrived yet.

Are JK displays usually decent? I just need it for basic usage, but I hate bad viewing angles and washed out displays. Does it at least match like a OEM iPhone 7 screen? If so, that's good enough.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of RAM allocated to the iGPU on a Gigabyte B650M D3HP?

I need every last megabyte of RAM, since I need to run "beefy" LLMs.

However task manager shows only 15GB of RAM, since apparently 1GB is hardware reserved.

Regardless, is there any way to reduce the RAM allocation to the iGPU?

I looked everywhere in BIOS and can't find an option. I'm on a b650m d3hp.

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB

Ryzen 5 7600

B650M

16GB DDR5 5600Mhz

MSI MAG A650BN
