Her name is Esther Kim Varet. The exchange takes place under this Instagram post. The first comment of the thread reads, "Sorry Esther loves AIPAC," which is where I chimed in. Instead of screenshots, I am copying and pasting comments from Varet and myself.
>Me: estherforcongress, I asked you nicely on Threads if you received donations from AIPAC. You blocked me. This was on the thread where you posted a link to a paywalled article in which you called out "antisemitism on the left."
>Varet: profnachos I prob blocked you bc you had said I was “compromised” bc my husband is Jewish
>Me: I had no idea your husband was Jewish. You could have defended yourself with facts. It was your platitude about "antisemitism on the left" that made you sound compromised.
>Varet: that’s fair - but the far left and right has an antisemitism problem. This is very well documented.
>Me: Can you post a link to your stance on Palestinian rights? I don't see anything on your website.
>Varet: I do not take aipac funding. I think both Hamas and Bibi have really bad instincts regarding civilian lives. I’m for protecting civilians. If Hamas had their way - it would also be genocidal to ALL Jews. I read their original charter. So the whole thing is problematic. Don’t you agree ? I choose to think wider.
>Me: That's fine. What is your stance on the funding of the Israeli military? Your website has nothing on it. You cannot continue to ignore the elephant in the living room. The US isn't funding the Hamas. We are, however, continuing to fund Bibi. The bothsides argument completely fails here. I am sure bad actors fund Hamas, but US tax payers aren't one of them. We are however funding the Israeli military. Will you vote to do that just because Hamas is funded? Two wrongs don't make a right.
>Varet: that’s fair - what are your feelings around Ukraine ? Let’s speak of this from the side of Russian civilians. I don’t want to be a part of any war abroad if it doesn’t have anything to do with the people I represent.
>Me: Yes, I support funding Ukraine, but not Israel. Ukraine does not commit wholesale killings of civilians. Russia does it, and Russia needs to be stopped. Israel does it, and at the very least, we should stop funding them.
Her campaign website as of right now is completely devoid of foreign policy positions. Is she just going to ignore the elephant in the living room just like the establishment Democrats are doing? The best she can do is bothsidism.
On a personal note, as a Korean American, I was shaken by the story of the ICE seeking to deport Yunseo Chung, a 21-year-old South Korean native and Columbia University student. Just like this young woman and Mahmoud Khalil, I too was a green card holder before becoming a citizen. Liberal Zionists are radio silent about their plight. Varet is a US born Korean American. Will she be silent when the Trump administration comes after naturalized citizens like me for their anti-Israel views?
This is what Google AI says,
>the disciples frequently called Jesus "Lord" (Kurios in Greek) throughout the Gospels, signaling their recognition of his authority, mastership, and eventually his divinity
One big problem that stands out is that the disciples and Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Greek. In their native tongue, did they use the Aramaic version of Adonai in Hebrew? Adonai is an exclusive title for God from my understanding.
People calling Jesus Lord predated the resurrection in the gospels. For example, Simon Peter said, "Get away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man." This was during his first encounter with Jesus. I can not imagine a Jew growing up citing Deuteronomy 6:4 calling a man he had just met Adonai. That would be blasphemous. They might have called him a Rabbi, but calling him Lord seems like a huge leap given the Jewish tradition of monotheism.
