Got a gift for my mom, pleasantly surprised!
I've been hunting for a colecovision for my mom for a couple of months now in my local area, and nothing has come up other than a set of untested controllers... until yesterday! Someone on marketplace was selling this entire lot for 200, and I jumped on it immediately. It even comes with the original adapter (which will... need a little electrical tape unless I want something to catch fire) and basically everything except the boxes! All of the games have their manuals minus moonsweeper, and the super action controllers and console itself have their manuals as well. The thing that's had me giggling to myself tonight though is the "software and accessories" catalog that came with the manuals. I can't explain it, reading through it brings me a weird sense of joy. I blame my very specific brand of autism.
The current plan is to hook it up to the CRT I've borrowed from an aunt and invite my younger cousins over to be exposed (read: forced to play) this, as well as the Genesis, Gamecube, and Wii I've picked up. My mom called it a "retro night"- we're combining her childhood consoles and my childhood console (Wii) and having the kids experience How Things Used To Be™.
It's a good thing this came with manuals. I'm probably going to need them. Wish me luck!
