how hard is to find partner in us after you get matched through usmle in us for indian fmg students

so i am fmg student from india and i have graduated is 2024 and i have passed my step 1 exams but due to personal reasons i take a year back and now i am again starting my prep for step 2 ck and inbetween this time i took a job at some government hospital for 1 year. now practically i can apply in 2027 match cycle. but i due to my extended year of graduation i have to make my cv strong. so i am thinking about 6 month research fellowship or sub internship. so is it helpful or am i just wasting my time. and if it is can someone please guide me through this

can someone help me with stipend based research fellowship in us and is it helpful to get matched
