Going to 160mm cranks (184cm height)

I need to swap my crankset. I am currently running stock 172.5mm on my gravel/road bike and 175mm on my XC bike. I am thinking about getting 160mm cranks for both.

I need to swap the crankset on the gravel bike as grx has 48t as max chainring size. It is cheaper to get a different crankset than getting garbaruk custom chainrings.

I want to hear from experience instead of theorizing, how has shorter cranks impacted your racing/training/bike fit? I've heard good thing about going short, but how short is too short?

Unfortunately, my local bike fitters do not offer testing with different crank lengths, thus I can't test it beforehand.

Hey!

I really want to get larger chainring on the front for my GRX set up as I race both gravel and road on this bike. However, it's cheaper now to get a new 12speed crankset plus I could get cranks in my desired length.

I have read mixed reviews about this setup, some people advising against.

I wanted to check in, does anyone have experience with this? Did you manage to get it working just as good as with the original 11speed?
