First time playing the Campaign: Some takeaways

After one year of playing Arcs we finally tried the Campaign. Took us two sessions: we left the last act for the next day. Both Conspirator and Redeemer (red) won the objective, but red won by power.

We had a very clear turning point in act 2, 2nd chapter, when my opponents had to turn outlaw after I (Redeemer) called the summit 3 times. With 2 crises I caused earlier and huge fleet of empire ships (and my lore that enabled me to build cities in gates) it became obvious that I will achieve my goals and win.

So here is what I took from this game:
- it’s really hard to win against 2 C fates if you’re still playing A/B fate
- we underestimated how important the summit is
- you got to pick your battles more selectively
- there is so much going on in the first game: you will forget stuff and make blunders
- my friends shouldn’t have let me to became a regent so easily after act 1 (I had to turn outlaw immediately in ch. 1 to score)
- we prepared well, but still spent significant time on understanding how specific fates score

Overall it was a mesmerising experience and playing a lot of base game payed off. Can’t imagine going into the Campaign without playing the base game first.

So what were your biggest takeaways in the campaign?

PS: Would you fight against two C fates in 3-player game or would you change to C fate yourself?
