How to find that balance between a practical and beautiful garden

I love the idea of fruit trees, veggie gardens and fruit trees, but also have a new modern style house that I would really love to have a beautiful aesthetically pleasing landscaped garden.

I know the 2 aren’t totally mutually exclusive but find chickens to destroy everything (if you’ve had free range chooks u know what Im talking about) and veg gardens a bit ugly.

Has anyone found the balance / best of both worlds with this? Is it just to have it out of site and out of mind? I personally have a decent size backyard and at the moment have some chooks and lawn but really want to have a nice garden soon, but I wrestle with also enjoying that “urban farm” kind of vibe.

What to read when you need a pallette cleanse?

I enjoy classic literature and biographies. However I do find this can be a bit heavy and mentally taxing.

It feels like it would be nice to have something light and fun before diving from one juggernaut to the next.

Whats the solution to this? do you guys take a break in between or read something light and fun - if so reccomendations eould be appreciated.
