Fake Pregnancy & Abuse Story for Money? Reddit Begging Scam Exposed 🚨

This girl messaged me on Reddit asking for help, saying her boyfriend left her after finding out she’s pregnant because she missed her period for two months, and now she needs money for an abortion. She claimed they were in an 8-month relationship, she’s 21, and he’s 30. She also said her father has passed away, her mother is sick, her foster parents abuse her daily, and that she got beaten badly just for coming home 15 minutes late. She kept emotionally pushing me for ₹10,000.

At first, it sounded serious, but too many things didn’t add up.

I asked for her UPI QR code, and the number linked to it gave me more information. I checked it on Truecaller, then found her WhatsApp, which led me to her Instagram and Facebook profiles.

Here’s where it gets suspicious:

The same girl in her “injury photos” matched her social media photos exactly, including tattoos on her hand.

Her Instagram showed event-related profiles and normal lifestyle content.

Her Facebook showed her with her supposed “boyfriend” just 4 days ago, looking completely normal and happy.

She claimed they hadn’t spoken in 2 months, which clearly doesn’t match.

She said she’s 21 and already completed her Master’s from Jamia Islamia which makes very little sense timeline-wise.

(If someone starts college at 18, a normal undergraduate degree usually takes around 3–5 years, which already puts them at 21–22 just for graduation. After that, a Master’s typically takes another 2-3 years. So realistically, completing a full Master’s by 21 is highly unlikely unless there’s some very unusual academic path involved and nothing else in her story suggests that)

That was one of the biggest red flags for me. Her timeline just doesn’t add up, which makes the whole story even more suspicious.
A few more things made this feel even more suspicious.

I noticed her social media had rave/event-related content, which personally made me wonder whether the money story could be covering something else entirely. I can’t claim what her real situation is, and I don’t want to falsely accuse anyone of drug use or anything without proof but when someone’s story keeps changing and they’re aggressively asking strangers for money, it’s fair to question where that money is actually going.

Other Reddit posts also suggest she may have done similar emotional money scams before.
So the whole story started looking like a manipulation tactic built around sympathy, urgency, and guilt to get money from strangers.

I’m posting this so people stay careful.
If someone keeps pressuring you for money with a highly emotional story, always verify first. Genuine cases exist, but scammers also know exactly how to exploit kindness. Don’t send money just because the story sounds heartbreaking check facts, timelines, and inconsistencies first.
