No sound device on ASUS Pro WS B850M-ACE SE with ALC 897 + AMD AM5 Epyc 4005
Hey guys,
I spent days trying to figure out why the RealTek ALC897 chip doesn't pop up anywhere in BIOS oder Windows or Linux in my ASUS Pro WS B850M-ACE SE 90MB1MN0-M0EAY0 board. After resets and many tricks tried Gemini gave up and suddenly mentioned that AMD Epyc may force audio deactivated. Nowhere in the manual nor website of the MB is this mentioned and Audio was my reason to go for this board. I reinstalled all drivers from Asus.com and also force installed the realtek drivers. Can anyone with this board please confirm that I am not just an idiot and audio really is deactivated or someone has a link with conformation? I am upset about the days I spent trouble shooting. Unfortunately I don't have another AM5 CPU laying around to test it directly. The diagram shows no shared lanes.
On other B850 boards Asus warns
>*** Once an EPYC CPU is installed, the onboard audio function will be disabled.
Asus updated and geo locks their site so that any google link just run into their start site clustered with ads and no infromation. All deep links are broken - great.
This is a repost because I couldn't add prictures in the other post. Thanks reddit.
BIOS onboard options only show serial - also directly in BIOS (this is the BMC version)
