Chapter 22 Market Mayhem

A snippet if you will;

He steals another glance at her.

Katara in Fire Nation red has always looked good—sharp contrast against her eyes, her skin, the crimson asymmetric tunic hugging her shoulders the way it never quite does in her training clothes. The sun catches the loose strands around her face, the way her hair swings with each step, half up, the easy confidence in her stride. 

Memory flickers: the awkward denial at the play, June’s knowing smirk, them shutting it down every time someone teases them both. He’s noticed her beauty before, of course, but he’s always been careful to keep it at a distance. Here, in the golden light of the morning, he finally stops looking away…

Inside her head the words loop like a chant, steady and insistent.

He’s a friend.  

He’s a friend.  

He’s a friend that I care about.  

Nothing more.

She repeats the mantra, trying to anchor the thoughts that keep slipping sideways—his thumb brushing her knuckle, the way he holds his gaze and half-smiles when he looks at her, the warmth of his hand still blooming under her skin. 

The chant helps a little.

But not enough.

Im already on chapter 4 but I wanted like an opinion of what you want to see and what you don’t want to see maybe (for example erotica? Ok or not ok?) Chapter 2 will drop later today. The characters’ ages and looks remain the same in the Legend of Aang era. Canon Katara gets sucked into a vortex created by a jinn/trickster that Team Avatar was pursuing (inspired by the TV series Supernatural), and Fire Lady Katara is spit out in canon from a different universe. I’m really pressured to really write a great fic seeing all the great comments readers left and wanted to collab with great minds here on what theyd think would be cool to include. Will credit you of course if it lands on my fic whether I already thought about it or not.
