If we love them, we should protect them.
I love corvids and rooks have a special place in my heart. They are the incredibly loyal and magnificent. Yesterday I write a post that I don't usually do.
Normally I try to write about how amazing corvids are and show their beauty and charm. But I came across a nightmarish post from Facebook about a psychopath showing pictures of all the animals that he has murdered whilst "protecting farmers and songbirds ".
So many murdered rooks. The horror and pain and fear that they all must have felt, seeing their family and friends getting slaughtered and then being murdered. Since the psychopath was so proud of himself I decided to share it here.
To my surprise someone decided that I was the problem, that I was doxxing him and they reported me and I ended up with a warning. If you protect a man that finds joy in murdering corvids and then making fun of it. You are not a corvid friend, there is something wrong with you as well.
How can we enjoy our interactions with them and then close our eyes when they get mistreated and worse? It doesn't make sense to me. If you love them, you fight against those that hurt them and you support those that help them.
It is hard to deal with how unfair this world is. How very unclear rules are abused by horrible people to do as much damage as possible. It is hard when you feel helpless, but shouldn't all of us that love corvids be able to do more to support and protect them?
Please when you get the chance, support petitions to protect corvids, sign them. Support people that are protecting wildlife. If you have a little extra, donate to corvid rescues. Educate people about them. Don't let the ignorant and hateful people spread their horror and lies online unchallenged. Support the people that are fighting for them. 🖤
