Frustration with better internet provider search, ultimately no options
*before writing this, I'm sorry if it's the wrong flair. it's more of a question/discussing vent but also raising awareness to anyone that has the ability to get things moving, or has recommendations to help*
I've lived in Ogden, near Century Drive, since August 2021. Our internet provider that my boyfriend and I found that was the best option was Centurylink (only plan available is 100mbs). It was fine, ran fast enough for everyone in the house to be on the wifi during all hours of the day and in multiple devices as well as gaming on top of that.
Later, maybe 2022, they built the apartment complex next to the train tracks and our bandwidth went down. Things ran a little slower but no problem. More apartment development has happened on Century Dr. since then and now no one in our house can be on the wifi, except for gaming on consoles and streaming, due to how bad the bandwidth is.
I've been searching every couple of months for fiber, or just simply better internet. Nothing. Tried seeing if we're even on a fiber map, not marked as a mass market location. Why are we even developing the infrastructure for more citizens to live here when not also updating internet usage for said citizens that also already live here and newcomers too? I've looked at numerous providers, left my email to be on wait lists for notification when better service is coming or whatever the prompt says. I'm just frustrated and want better, yet still affordable to me, options.
Update: I ended up buying xfinity, just now waiting for it to ship to my house. Thank you for suggestions, agreeing with frustrations, and also in educating on why the access to internet is the way it is.
