Just heard Mehdi Hassan for the first time today through “Aaye Kuch Abr Kuch Sharab Aaye” and wow… what a soothing voice.

I don’t even fully understand Urdu poetry yet, but the emotion and control in his singing instantly clicked with me. Feels calm, melancholic, and effortless in a way most modern singers don’t.

Would love some recommendations for essential Mehdi Hassan ghazals or similar artists to explore next.
