Imam Sadiq's supplication through the Tawassul of Ahl al-Kissa
- Imam Sadiq (as) was beneath the spout (of the Kabah) and with him was a group, when an old man came and greeted him. He said, ‘O son of Rasool-Allah (s)! I love you all, People of the Household, I disavow from your enemies, and I am afflicted with a severe affliction, and I have come to the House (Kabah) seeking shelter with it from what I am feeling. Then he cried and became devoted to Abu Abdullah (as) while kissing his head. Imam pitied him and cried, then said: ‘This is your brother, and he has come to you all to seek shelter with you, so raise your hands!’
He prayed: ‘O Allah! You created this self from a clay You purified and from it You made Your friends and friends of Your friends, and if You so desired, remove the afflictions from it, do so.
O Allah! And we have sought shelter with Your sacred house (Kabah) through which all things are secured, and it has sheltered us, and I am asking You, O One who is veiled from His creation by His own light! I am asking You by Muhammad, and Ali, and Fatima, and Hasan, and Husayn (pbut)!
O the goal of every grief-stricken, sorrowful, distressed, desperate, and afflicted, if You could secure him with your safety from what he is feeling, and delete from his clay (essence) what affliction has been pre-determined upon it, and relieve his distress, O most Merciful of the merciful ones!’
When he was free from the supplication, the man went away. When he reached the door of the Masjid, he returned and cried, then said, ‘Allah is more knowing of where to place His Message. [6:124]. By Allah! I had not reached the door of the Masjid and there was nothing with me from what I was feeling, neither little nor more.’

- Al-Rabie (who worked for Mansour Dawaniqi) said:
Al-Mansour called me one day. He said, ‘O Rabie! Present Ja’far ibn Muhammad (as)! By Allah, I will kill him!’ He sent me to him. When I arrived, I said, ‘O son of Rasool-Allah (s)! If there was a bequest for you, or a pact to be made, do so!’ He said: ‘Get me permission to see him’.
I entered to see Al-Mansour and let him know of Ja’far’s arrival. He said, ‘Let him enter!’ When Ja’far saw Al-Mansour, I noticed him (as) moving his lips as if he was saying something. I did not understand, and he continued. When he greeted Mansour, he got up to him (as) and seated him to his side and said to him, ‘Raise your needs!’
He (as) brought out notes of some people and asked about others. Mansour fulfilled their needs and said, ‘Raise your needs regarding yourself.’ Ja’far said to him: ‘Do not call me until I come to you (by myself).’ Al-Mansour said to him, ‘There is no way for me to do that, and O Abu Abdullah, you are claiming to the people that you know the hidden matters.'
Ja’far said, 'Who informed you of this?’ Al-Mansour gestured to an old man seated in front of him. Ja’far said to him: ‘Have you heard me saying this?’ The old man said, ‘Yes.' Ja’far said to Al-Mansour: ‘Shall I ask him to swear an oath, O commander of the faithful?’ Al-Mansour said to him, ‘Swear!’
When he began the oath, Ja’far said to Al-Mansour: ‘My father narrated to me, from his father…, from Amir al-Momineen: ‘When a servant swears an oath which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is away from, and he is lying, Allah would prevent punishing him immediately, Allah is far above it. But I shall dictate him the oath.'
Al-Mansour said, ‘That is for you!’ Ja’far said to the old man: ‘Say, ‘I disavow Allah’s Might and Strength and seek shelter with my own might and strength, if I did not happen to hear you saying this word!’
The old man hesitated. Al-Mansour raised a rod that was in his hands. He said, ‘By Allah! If you do not swear, I will pain you with this rod!’ Hence, he swore. The oath had not even been completed until his tongue rolled out like what the dog tends to roll out, and he died, and Ja’far got up.
Al-Rabie said: Al-Mansour said to me, ‘Woe be unto you! Conceal it from the people.’
Then I went to Ja’far and said, ‘O son of Rasool-Allah (s)! Mansour had thought of a mighty matter but when your eyes fell upon him and his eyes upon you, that declined.’
He said: ‘O Rabie! Last night I saw Rasool-Allah (s) in a dream. He said to me: ‘O Ja’far! Are you scared?’ I said: ‘Yes, O Rasool-Allah!’ He said to me: ‘When your eyes fall upon him, then say:
‘With the name of Allah I begin, and with the name of Allah I shall succeed, and with Muhammad (s) I divert to Him. O Allah! Ease for me my difficult matter and every difficulty, and ease for me the unpleasantness of my matter and every unpleasantness and suffice me with the assistance of my matter and every assistance!’
