what is fresher's week? is it important

title. I wasn't originally planning on studying in the UK but plans changed--I just found out about 'freshers' week' and i have a few questions

  1. what exactly is it?? I don't know much besides the fact that it's mainly for socialising & involves partying/drinking
  2. are the wristbands worth it/how do I get access or know where freshers' events are taking place
  3. will I miss out by not being able to go to a lot of freshers' events? I'm still 17 by the time university begins so I imagine I'll be denied entry to most clubs, but I heard that freshers' week is prime for meeting people

thank you so much!!

HKU or LSE? -- how do they compare?

got into HKU for IBGM and LSE for management, I can't decide which one to go to. Money is not an issue and I'm leaning towards LSE, but I'm afraid that I won't have enough connections if i go there as I plan to return to HK for work in the future. HKU's cohort size for my course is also significantly smaller than LSE's, so there's probably more attention per student which is beneficial imo.

TLDR: big fish small pond vs small fish big pond
