Chat worse than usual? (5/9/26)
I caught Vanilla's surprise stream last night where she was cleaning her house and was so excited because I usually force myself to clean while I watch her streams, and this time she was cleaning too so it was extra motivating!
Every now and then I would look at the stream and see the chat. And idk if it was just me but - was chat worse than usual? By "worse" I mean more disrespectful, unkind, spammy, and just kinda rude in general.
For example, when she started cleaning her bathroom people would not stop commenting on how "small" the bathtub was. (The bathtub looked normal to me, also the way the camera was angled, we couldn't see the full size of the tub anyway). Even after Vanilla addressed the comments, ppl still kept talking about the tub.
I also saw several comments saying something along the lines of "wow that's a lot of products for someone who's bald". It just felt so rude and unnecessary to me. Maybe if it was just one commenter, but it was multiple ppl saying the same thing. Maybe they thought they were joking but that's a kind of joke you can make to a friend, not someone you don't actually know.
People also kept telling her to change her shirt, put on music, then when she did they complained about the kind of music. Then there was a bunch of ppl spamming that she was muted to "prank" her. It was so annoying and I felt so tired for her 😭
I stopped watching around the time she started sorting through her bathing suits cause I had to go to bed. So maybe the chat got better after that? I hope so
Anyway, just wanted to know - was chat worse than usual last night? Am I being oversensitive? Or could it be it's always been that bad and I've just never noticed before?
Either way, I really hope ppl start being kinder in chat and remember that they don't actually know the streamer they watch. (This applies to all streamers/content creators, not just Vanilla). Even if they think they're just joking, those kind of roast style jokes may not come off as funny when it's not towards a friend, it often comes off as rude and disrespectful.
TL;DR: Was chat worse last night or has it been this way and I've never noticed?
