Quick Jack Advice
Hi,
We are an FS team in the UK, so this year we will be judged against either FSUK or FSG rules due to some interesting decisions by the IMechE.
I need a bit of advice about the car jack.
The rules state that the jacks must HOLD the car on their own, as well as being able to support a driver entering the car in a lifted position.
As well as this, they say that the device(s) must not extend outside of the car's projected surface area. I have queried this on FSQD and found that this is a plan view of the car.
However, I don't see how it is possible to have a car jack that is only underneath the car, unless it was something electrically operated without a handle, as surely the handle has to extend outside of this for the jack to be usable.
So based on all of this, our current idea is to buy a high lift pallet truck with forks that will fit underneath the car, with the handle being alongside (https://www.pallettrucksuk.co.uk/product/high-lift-pallet-truck/).
An alternative would be a couple of quick jacks from BG Racing (https://www.bg-racing.co.uk/B-G-Racing-Quick-Lift-Jack-Track-Saloon-Car).
But I wanted to ask if anyone had any advice as to how they're approaching this rule or if anyone in FSG has any experience with its judging in the past.
Are people thinking of a removable handle? Are people making their own or buying something off the shelf? Does anyone have an example from previous years we could reference?
thanks :)
