Looking for guidance & connections – Building a UK import business

Hi everyone,

I’m in the early stages of building an import/export business focused on sourcing high-quality, non-perishable agricultural products from Africa, things like nuts, spices, tea, and similar goods. I’m open to expanding into other product categories as well, as long as they’re sustainable and have strong market demand.

I’ve already connected with and built access to a network of reliable farmers across Africa, which gives me a solid foundation on the supply side. Now I’m focused on strengthening the commercial and distribution side of the business.

Right now, I’m looking to connect with people who:

  • Have experience selling agricultural products to companies in the UK (B2B, wholesale, distribution, etc.)
  • Have connections to potential buyers (retailers, distributors, food manufacturers, etc.)
  • Have a background in agriculture, sourcing, or supply chains
  • Are interested in joining a growing venture from an early stage

I’d also really appreciate any advice on:

  • How to identify and secure reliable buyers early on
  • Choosing the right products to focus on (high demand, good margins, scalable)
  • Common pitfalls in import/export (logistics, compliance, quality control, etc.)

The goal is to build something long-term, ethical, and mutually beneficial, supporting producers while creating a strong, scalable business.

If you have experience, insights, or are interested in potentially collaborating, feel free to comment or DM me.

Thanks in advance!
