[This is a repost of a post from yesterday. The top image did not display well. Trying again.]
Screenshot of SR 5/3/26. Photo of weather at end of post.
I have no idea what these colors mean. At the end of the post is a photo of the sunny day with some thin clouds and a lot of open sky.
What are the blue, yellow, gray, and dark gray or dusky purple supposed to communicate? This is a color display I never saw before the upgrade. Where do I go to find an interpretation of a display like this?
The blue is not in the lower guide bar to color meanings. I don't know what the yellow signifies, as there was no rain or rain clouds. The other colors - who knows. I can't find an explanation on the Storm Radar app, or even on google search. [At the end I've posted a photo of the sky as it was at this time. Hope the photos fully display, I haven't uploaded photos to Reddit before.]
I haven't found an explanation either in the app or in online searches.
But, sometimes the display is the familiar smooth shades of green showing precipitation, with a tan background. Those are easy to understand.
Over time, as I try to decide what to do with this app I used regularly before the upgrade, I've tracked through screenshots and compared to photos of the sky. There's no consistency. I don't know what to think.
For the record, on Friday May 1st (*not* the above display) I had a good day with Storm Radar. Rainy day of driving and Storm Radar thankfully performed reliably to show where spots of heavy rain were expected, as it did before the upgrade.
However, yesterday Sunday May 3rd, a sunny day of driving, this was the display. I have no idea what the blue and the random yellow watercolor art is supposed to mean.
This strange blue and/or yellow map display with no explanation is what has become so massively frustrating about upgraded Storm Radar.
There is just no knowing if any day will be a useful day with Storm Radar, or not.
Before the upgrade I used Storm Radar daily as I have an outside job in a rainy climate. Now, post-upgrade, day-to-day is a scramble to find a weather app that will be useful, if any are.
An app that worked superlatively pre-upgrade has been broken. Sometimes it's comprehensible and useful, sometimes not. I am still trying to decide if I keep it or not.
Photo of the weather on 5/3/26, to go with the screenshot. Clouds are thin. Through car window.
