Cookies from Simple Suppers by Sarah Graham

Sarah Graham is a really good South African cookbook author. She has very doable recipes that are still delicious and impressive. I have used her first two books ‘Bitten’ and ‘Smitten’ for ages but this is my first time using this book since I got it about two years ago. The cookies were ridiculously good. I know a chocolate chip cookie is nothing groundbreaking but these are the best cookies I’ve ever made. I ate two of them before I remembered to take the picture 🫢

Teriyaki chicken from Skinnytaste Fast & Slow. Super low effort.

Almost feel bad posting this recipe because it is so simple and easy. But it plated really well so I snapped a pic. I usually hate any type of cauliflower but the sauce made it yum. Just super quick, easy, low effort dinner.

I made a pie! From my new America’s Test Kitchen 💃

I made this double crust chicken pie from ATK’s The Complete Autumn and Winter Cookbook for our wintery Mother’s Day. It came out looking what I’ll kindly describe as rustic. It was incredibly comforting and delicious on a very cold day. I also made the Skillet Apple Crisp but completely forgot to take pictures 😑

Dairy free - not vegan - cookbook recommendations?

One of the members of my dinner club has recently found out she is allergic to dairy. I mostly use my cookbooks for dinner club so this has been a bit of a bummer. But I still want to cook yummy food for her from a fun book! Does anyone have recommendations for cookbooks that deal with allergies or have a lot of dairy free recipes?

New arrival! ATK Autumn & Winter was delivered today 💃

I had a few cookbooks arrive today including this one. I’ve seen/heard that America’s Test Kitchen are notorious recipe repeaters and that is definitely true. I only have 2 other ATK books and there are recipes from both in here. Nevertheless I am excited to use this because we are experiencing a terrible cold front in South Africa and I’m craving cozy food. I’ve already bookmarked a few recipes and plan on making the chicken pie and pecan bars for Mother’s Day tomorrow. So fingers crossed they’ll come out at least adequate 😬 Thankfully my mum is very understanding 😅

I’ve made this malted chocolate cookie recipe three times now and they always come out looking like the blobs you see in the picture. They are delicious but I’m getting so frustrated with my bakes also ugly all the time 😅 has anyone made these cookies? Do you have pictures and/or advice? I know Snacking Bakes is super popular at the moment so please give me any help you have to offer 🙏

It’s winter here in South Africa and I’ve been craving soup. We recently moved and unfortunately my stove plates are faulty at the moment and making soup takes FOREVER so I decided to look for slow cooker soup recipes. I have most of the Skinnytaste books but haven’t really used this one. It was nice to be able to pull it out.

This is a pretty basic (not from scratch) chicken soup but with the addition of little flour dumplings. Without the dumplings I think the soup would’ve been a bit boring tbh. But it was comforting and warm and yum nonetheless.
