Cycling kit (bibs) suitable for on-the-water rowing?
Hi folks, new to this community and soon to be new to on-the-water rowing. I’ve built up a fair amount of experience with the erg over a few years and decided to see what it’s like “for real”, so signed up for a Learn to Scull (1x) class — 12 hours over 5 sessions, part of which is going to be a “flip test” for which I assume I’m going to be fully in the water. I have considerable experience with cycling and have acquired quite a lot of cycling-related clothing (synthetic, tight fit, moisture-wicking). The club I’m taking the class through recommends “close-fitting” clothing so my cycling gear seems like a good choice, but I’m a little concerned about the placement of the pads in my cycling bibs, which is optimized for sitting on a cycling saddle and is basically a sponge. Not sure what that’s going to be like when it’s soaking wet. I’ve used cycling bibs on the erg previously and it seemed okay, but I know the boat is going to be different. Advice much appreciated!
