First time using fabric printing ink went wrong
Hello everyone!
I’m quite new to printmaking. So far, I’ve only used water-soluble printing ink and everything worked great. Today I wanted to print one of my designs on a T-shirt, so I bought a fabric block printing ink (Essdee).
First I tested it on paper, but the colour came out quite uneven (picture 1), and it looked even worse on a scrap of fabric (picture 2). On top of that, I’m now having trouble cleaning the ink off the block and I’m worried I may have ruined my design :(.
I tried washing it with water and a cloth, but it didn’t work very well and now the block is stained (picture 3). I also tried rubbing alcohol.
Could someone help me understand what I’m doing wrong? Both in terms of cleaning the ink off the block and improving the print quality? The block printed nicely on paper with my regular ink, so I’m guessing the issue might be with the fabric ink.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
