CCNA advice for uni student starting out (how to begin + timeline + exam process?)
**i apologize for advance as i have used ai to polish my post (english isnt my first language) **
Hey everyone,
I’m a university student planning to get my CCNA this year. I already took an intro to networking course about 6 months ago, so I’m somewhat familiar with the basics (OSI model, IP addressing, subnetting, and we used Cisco Packet Tracer for labs). I might be a bit rusty though.
I just wanted some guidance on how to properly start my CCNA journey:
- Do I study through official Cisco material or use third-party courses (like Udemy/YouTube/etc.)?
- Roughly how long should it take for someone in my situation?
- How does the exam process work exactly — do I just register and pay for the CCNA exam, or are there structured modules I need to complete first?
- Any recommendations for how to structure the study plan?
- Also, after CCNA, what follow-up certifications/courses would you recommend?
- Is networking + worth doing after CCNA?
Basically just looking for advice on how to go from “intro networking knowledge” to actually passing the CCNA and what direction to take afterward.
Thank you all :))
