How do you actually validate a idea? Does wailtlist convert?

I keep seeing advice like:

- talk to people first

- build a waitlist

- launch an MVP fast

- pre-sell before building

But what do people here do in practice?

For your last project, how did you decide whether the idea was worth building or not?

What signals made you continue or quit?

I’ve realized I’m a "paper and pen" person at heart. I love the messy phase of just dumping ideas anywhere on a page, but I hate that I can’t search my scribbles later.

I’ve tried Notion, Trello, and Todoist. They’re great for after I have a plan, but during the messy phase, they feel way too rigid.

So I built a side tool called PathScroll (https://pathscroll.com). It’s an infinite canvas where you drop ideas as cards, cluster them, and draw lines. then one toggle organizes that chaos into a clean, structured list.

I originally built it for my solo trip planning, but I’ve noticed people are using the canvas logic for content calendars and project roadmaps too.

I’m looking for honest feedback:

- Does the Canvas-to-List toggle actually make sense?

- What non-travel project would you use a messy-first canvas for?

- Is the UI too bare-bones or just light enough?

P.S. It's free to check out. I'm just a solo builder trying to see if this solves a real problem for other visual thinkers.

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo dev who just launched a visual travel planner app. I’m starting to build my Instagram presence from scratch, but I'm struggling with the beginner's plateau.I know it takes time, but I want to make sure I’m not just shouting into the void.

I’ve posted few carousel and reel, but the views are low and I'm worried it just looks like I'm selling.

The App: It’s a canvas-style planner (visual cards instead of spreadsheets).

The Problem: How do you showcase a productivity tool without it looking like a boring "ad"?

The Content: Should I focus on travel hacks using my tool ?

The Question: For those who have successfully launched a SaaS on Instagram, what was the "turning point" for your engagement? Did you use a specific hook or just stay consistent with a certain format?

I’m not looking for a "get rich quick" scheme just some solid advice on how to build a community around a utility app from scratch.
