AI in PR - lots of "experts" are guessing

Continuing my efforts to conquer video with this half-baked stuff about AI in search. So many snake oil sales people around saying what will work to get to the top bit of the page. I think most people are guessing. You'll be ok if you're providing consistent, useful content, delivered with authority, on subjects that your brand can legitimately comment on.

Door Dash car crash PR effort - do not do this!

Little video on the McDonald's delivery PR stunt at the White House this week, which caused a rumpus with suggestions that the whole thing was staged. Of course it was (they put out a press release on it).

Online squawking ensued, as it always does, but the delivery company's head of public affairs (their PR person, Julian Crowley) made it all about him, and the brand, by wading in on Twitter/X taking on all-comers.

He made himself (and DoorDrop) the story. This is a mistake. To his credit though, he defended driver Sharon Simmons against predictably-nasty comments on her appearance.
