Bilt Palladium & Citi Strata Elite Priority Passes now includes non-lounge experiences: Restaurants, spas, etc.

https://frequentmiler.com/bilt-palladium-priority-pass-now-includes-non-lounge-experiences-restaurants-spas-etc/

>For several months, the World Legend Mastercard website has listed its Priority Pass benefit as: Get access to 1,700+ airport lounges worldwide and special offers and discounts in the terminal on dining, retail and spa experiences.

>Although there was that mention of dining, retail, and spa experiences, the corresponding Priority Pass memberships didn’t include that. Mastercard does allow customization of card benefits, so we’d assumed that neither Citi nor Bilt wanted to invest in a more expensive kind of Priority Pass.

>However, the fact that it’s now showing for both those cards might mean that restaurants and spas were omitted inadvertently in the past—that they should’ve been accessible for Strata Elite and Palladium cardholders all along.

>That said, perhaps this is a glitch on the Priority Pass membership, but it seems strange that it would only happen for the membership type that comes on these two specific cards. If you have travel in the coming week and you’d want to visit an airport restaurant or spa location, it’ll be worth verifying beforehand that it’s still showing for you because if this is a glitch, it could get pulled quickly.

Hi all,

I will soon have to start renting cars frequently for short-term trips, roughly weekend rentals every other weekend. I do not have much experience renting cars, so I am trying to figure out the best way to pay for them.

I am deciding between:

  1. Using a card with primary CDW coverage, but little or no rewards on rental cars
  2. Using a card that earns much better rewards, 5% cash back, but has no meaningful rental car coverage

Most of these rentals would be short domestic U.S. rentals for personal travel, probably 2 to 3 days at a time.

For those of you who rent cars regularly for short-term trips, how do you think about this tradeoff? Is primary credit card CDW valuable enough to give up the rewards, or is the expected value usually low if you already have decent personal auto insurance?

Let me know of any other information that is informative for making a decision here.
