Why I stopped using vapes to quit smoking

I used vapes/mods (usually 3mg/ml) for four years after four years of smoking cigarettes. I’m really grateful I discovered vaping, and I’m absolutely sure I saved at least some of my health by avoiding cigarette smoke. The problem is that vaping doesn’t have the same ritualistic aspect as smoking. Because of that, you end up taking way more puffs throughout the day than you would with cigarettes, since all you have to do is press a button and inhale. You just keep vaping nonstop, “chain vaping” as we say, and that made my mechanical habit/oral fixation worse.

Nowadays, I feel like I have a kind of hyper-awareness of my mouth, and I’m constantly either chewing on air or moving my tongue too much. Another concern I started having with vaping was the oxidation of the coils. In my country, we don’t really have access to high-quality materials because everything is basically smuggled in, vaping is prohibited. With frequent use, I noticed the coils would oxidize very quickly, and that would inevitably release metals into the liquid and, consequently, into the vapor.

I’m not in a position to tell anyone what to do or whether it’s right or wrong, but I’m sharing my experience after years of this. I'm tired. Now, I want to quit everything for good and stop being a “slave” to it.
