7 Year Old - Week 2 on 200 mg
Hello,
My 7 year old didn't do well on Guanfacine, Adderall or Focalin.
We tried 100 mg of Qelbree for three weeks and did fairly well. Significantly less big outbursts, but I'm not sure if there was any affect on attentiveness.
It has been 9 days on 200 mg and my kid is saying he's very depressed, has had some major anxiety, and some headaches and stomachaches.
My gut instinct is to drop back to 100 but I know there's a three week adjustment period. Can anyone please offer advice on what I should do? Do I finish out the two / three weeks and then decide?
It's also frustrating because we're doing numerous other therapies so I don't even know if we need this. We started it after stopping Focalin (really bad week when we stopped) but I don't know if that was withdrawal or steady state. I wanted to wait to start Qelbree but because it takes time to kick in, I was told to start right away.
I know I'm probably just hoping we can stop but we started medication for a reason and it's unrealistic to think that we can stop within a year of starting.
I'm open to any advice or info about similar situations.
