Maverick costing more than Ranger... thoughts?
I have a daily driver and an old 2000 Ranger and wanted to replace both with a new Ranger. I started shopping around for a new Ranger (XLT 4x4) and they were coming in around $36-38k before tax, title, and any negotiation. But it just feels bigger than I really need. I like parking in the garage and obviously the Ranger can't fit. Previously I had considered the Maverick, but thought it's too small, but seeing it at the dealership made me realize the size is not an issue. In fact, I could probably park it in the garage.
But after pricing out the trim an options I want, it's about $41k (before tax, title, haggling). This is with a Lariat trim, hybrid, and AWD. The price includes features I didn't necessarily need like 4k tow package and power sliding rear window. It's not fair to compare a Lariat Maverick vs a Ranger XLT, but the lower trim Maverick just lacked a lot of features I'm used to in my vehicles. So now the problem is mentally being okay with paying close to $45k out the door for what is supposed to be a "budget" truck. With some negotiating, I could probably talk them down $2-3k, but still, does this seem way too much to be spending on a Maverick?
** This is in California BTW. And I'm not talking about whether it's a good deal compared to your region, more about the fact I'm adding on all these costs: Lariat, hybrid, AWD, extra features
