Tudor homages are cool, Rolex homages are lame

Tudor homages/clomages are far more acceptable and generally far cooler than Rolex homages because Tudor, especially in the past, was essentially an homage itself of Rolex. It is the very nature of Tudor to be a more experimental interpretation of Rolex design, targeted as being accessible to anyone. So homaging Tudor is by definition, within the very spirit and ethos of Tudor. Interpreting iconic design and making accessible to everyone. Homaging Rolex, on the other hand, has an heir of “trying hard” and wishing you had the real thing.

Does this make sense or was my gummy too strong? 🤣

WatchDives challenge: vintage Cartier homage

Dear Watch Dives,

Cartier is #2 in luxury watch sales market share, behind Rolex. The Chinese homage market is flooded with Rolex Submariner clomages.

I will happily purchase a Cartier Santos Caree or Galbee inspired homage. Miyota 9015 to keep it slim or Quartz for slim plus low cost production.

If you make this happen, I will buy one for me and one for my wife. And maybe one for my girlfriend too. 🤣
