Will be in GSMNP nights of May 20 and 21. I didn't get the firefly lotto. Anywhere else in the park they I could go to see the fireflies? Or is there a specific time the lotto area opens up in the middle of the night? Thanks for any help!

Question for the Internet! I am DMing a campaign where they is an important NPC that is accompanying the party for a large portion of the story. They are ultimately the big bad but the party doesn't know it yet. I want the NPC to contribute in fights and what not when they are there, but I also don't want them to be immediately overpowered compare to the party. So I'm struggling with whether the NPC should be a true NPC with a high CR level or create them as a DMPC where I level them up with the party. Any thoughts?
