'Surrey Six' murders mastermind Jamie Bacon released from prison

'Surrey Six' murders mastermind Jamie Bacon released from prison

I think this man spent 16 years in custody.

Six people were murdered in cold blood because of him.

He is at a high-risk to reoffend violently.

It seems that this person being free poses a large risk to the general public.

What do citizens and politicians need to do in order make sure someone like this is never released? How can we change the system?

Switch 2 vs Switch OLED review

I thought I’d add a review since I own both.

I play almost exclusively in handheld mode, so this is written from that perspective.

One of the most important factors for handheld gaming is ergonomics. Out of the box, both the Switch OLED and Switch 2 are pretty bad in this regard—the Joy-Cons are essentially unusable for many male adult players.

Because of that, you really need either third-party Joy-Con's or a Pro Controller with something like a Fixture mount. For me, the Fixture mount paired with a Pro Controller was by far the best way to play the Switch OLED in handheld mode.

You can use third-party Joy-Cons, and they do improve ergonomics, but the big advantage of the Fixture mount is that the controller angle is independent from the screen angle. Being able to adjust both separately makes a huge difference for comfort. Third-party Joy-Cons don’t offer that flexibility.

So for the Switch OLED, the Fixture mount + Pro Controller setup is ideal. Unfortunately, that setup doesn’t translate well to the Switch 2. I’ve tried using a mount with the Pro Controller 2, and it’s simply too heavy—even for someone with large hands.

That’s one point in favor of the OLED.

The OLED screen also has better colors (though the Switch 2 still looks good), and the battery life on my four-year-old Switch OLED is massively better than the battery life on my brand-new Switch 2. That’s two more points for the OLED.

Then there are the games, which are arguably the most important part of any console.

I was excited about the Switch 2 because of the possibility of playing AAA third-party games in handheld mode. So I tried titles like Final Fantasy Remake, Pragmata, and Cyberpunk.

What I realized is that even though the Switch 2 can run these games well, they just don’t feel great on a small screen compared to a large OLED TV. The visuals are too complex, and there’s too much happening on screen to fully appreciate them in handheld mode. No matter how powerful the hardware is, that limitation remains.

Nintendo’s first-party games, on the other hand, are designed with simpler, more readable visuals that work much better on a smaller screen. The same goes for many indie games—that’s why they tend to shine in handheld play.

So for me, the Switch 2 doesn’t really become a handheld AAA machine, because most of those games are simply better experienced on a big screen.

That leaves Nintendo’s first-party exclusives as the main reason to upgrade. And while those may eventually justify the purchase, I think it makes more sense to wait—especially if you already own a Switch OLED. Work through your backlog, and wait for more first-party titles (and ideally some sales).

In conclusion: if you primarily play handheld and already have a Switch OLED, it’s worth waiting a few years before upgrading to the Switch 2.
