I redesigned my tiny e-ink keychain after Reddit feedback

Hi folks,

A few months ago I shared a small message-bubble keychain with a 1.54" e-ink display, and got a ton of helpful feedback on the design. Over the past month I’ve been redesigning the enclosure, and this is the latest version.

The new case is 3D printed in translucent PETG, so you can still see the PCB through the shell. The display sits in a recessed cutout, and I’m using a UV-glued acrylic front panel to keep it protected while staying thin. Total thickness is around 4 mm, which feels surprisingly compact while still sturdy enough for everyday carry.

I also added a corner loop so you can attach key rings, lanyards, charms, etc.

One feature I’m especially happy with: the e-ink tag also includes NFC functionality, so you can use it for iPhone automations, shortcuts, contact cards, or other NFC-triggered actions.

A lot of people asked about the app on my last post too:

iPhone app is already live on the App Store, Android version currently installs via APK (Play Store release still pending). So far, any NFC-capable phone I’ve tested works fine

Current price is $29 USD including a free lanyard. Production turnaround is about 3–5 days and it ships from the US. check out the website:

Would love to hear what you think about the updated design — especially the enclosure/material choices.
