What could this egg be from? [hills of Napa Valley, California]

I am trying to figure out what might come out of this egg. I found this today on the ground in my mom’s patio. I could not figure any tree it would have reasonably fallen from, and it was not in any kind of nest (not even the stupid kind doves build on the ground)

I am trying to incubate it just on the off chance it isn’t dead. (Before you come down on me for moving it, it was in a high traffic area and there was no reasonable way to leave it)

I have been trying to identify it online. The best bets I have is either a hairy woodpecker, or a rock dove. I would normally think dove because they are dumb as rocks and exactly the kind of bird to lay an egg in the middle of a pathway. But from pics it looks too small to be that. But I also can’t figure out how it would have gotten where it was.

It does also look a little like a barn owl egg, but I’m not even going to think about that.

Anyone have any ideas?
