Can I legally store someones guns before trial?
My friend, through a spectacular display of idiocy is currently in jail and is almost certainly going to be sentenced to serve at least 6 months. I'm bailing him out so that he can hopefully use the next few weeks to get his affairs in order and to transfer any bills or whatever to his wifes name so that this whole process is as easy on her as possible. He is not allowed to possess any firearms before his trial and because he has proven to be an absolute idiot I would like to store his guns so that he doesnt have a chance to get in trouble for having them if he (inevitably) gets into more trouble before his trial.
I am not familiar with guns at all so I have a coworker who is willing to double check that they are all unloaded. If he is told he has to turn them in I will turn them in on his behalf because he cannot be trusted to do that. This is a constitutional carry state so I believe I should be in the clear to store these safely in a gun safe in my home but I want to cover all my bases beforehand. Thanks for any advice on this situation.
