Having trouble finding a CF card / adapter for iMac g3 hdd replacement.

I used dd to clone the hdd of my ruby red iMac DV and then attached the adapter. It doesn’t show up on the Mac and it doesn’t show up in the os9 or osx installers.

Is there a know good working combo for an adapter and compact flash drive that I can get in 2026? I’d rather not do more trial and error purchases.
