Who else thinks this guy got off too easy - Out of the Ashes - S3 E13

I just rewatched the Forensic Files episode covering the Rose Larner case and I keep coming back to how light the outcome seemed for Bill Brown

From what I understand he was a close friend of Rose Larner and was ultimately convicted but then received a relatively lenient sentence after cooperating and testifying against the other perpetrator

I get that plea deals and cooperation agreements are part of the system especially in cases where testimony helps secure a conviction against the primary offender but given the brutality of the crime I honestly feel like his involvement does not sit right with how little time he ended up serving

I am curious how others here view it do you think the sentence made sense legally given the cooperation or does it feel like he got off too easily considering what happened?
